Thinking in different dimensions

The holographic principle

The mysterious properties of black holes have served as an inspiration for many science fiction stories. Recently, black holes have led scientists to a new way of understanding the dimensions around us: holography. Physicists like Marika Taylor working in the field of string theory study the idea that the three dimensions in space are actually formed from a world of two dimensions.
