Drawing DNA with laser tweezers

Cooperating proteins in mitochondrial DNA

The DNA in our cells is so thin, that you can't see it under a normal microscope. To examine the different properties of DNA, scientists devise ways to move the invisible DNA strands into the picture. At the Department of Physics of Life Processes at the VU University, laser tweezers are used to test the strength and resistance of DNA strands.
