Edwin Cuppen

Edwin Cuppen is staff researcher at the Hubrecht Institute since 2002. He is also head of the research department of the Department of Medical Genetics at the University Medical Center Utrecht. His expertise in genomics and genetics and his work in the field of natural genetic variation in laboratory rats has been awarded the prestigious European Young Investigator Award.
Cuppen combines experimental methods: the latest sequencing technology, bioinformatics, and animal models. With this approach he can recognize functional elements of genomes and understand the implications of genetic variation in normal and disease conditions.
